5 Sequels We Would Like To See On PS5

5 sequels we would like to see on ps5 1

With PS5 almost upon us, I’ve been thinking to myself ‘What sequels am I most looking forward to?’ Then I got to thinking that there is some that we can almost expect as surefire bets at this point, such as sequels to Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, and Spider-Man.

But what about some of the more forgotten franchises, or the ones that have left us wanting more?

Metal Gear Solid 6

Snake!? SNAKE!? SNAAAAAAAAAAKE!?

It has been almost 5 years since the last instalment in the Metal Gear Solid series (Not including Metal Gear Survive. We don’t talk about that). It would perhaps be seen as controversial having a new Metal Gear Solid game without the key figures, namely Hideo Kojima, at the helm. Metal Gear will always have a place in my heart as a series that has played a big part in why I play video games. Of course, Kojima-san is vital to the very core of Metal Gear and the series might not be the same without his direction.

However, just because it’s not the same doesn’t mean it can’t be good. I would still like to see another entry in the Metal Gear Solid series from a different creative talent. Especially given we are getting new experiences from Kojima Productions regardless – perhaps we could have our cake and eat it too.

Titanfall 3

Titanfall 2 is one of the greatest shooters of all time.

Stand by for Titanfall… 3? Pretty please. I know Apex Legends is super popular and basically prints money for EA, but Titanfall deserves to live again. EA released Titanfall 2 in between their very own Battlefield series and Activision‘s Call of Duty series – both being absolute genre juggernauts in their own right. I don’t know if this was a misguided attempted to come at Call of Duty from both sides, but Titanfall arguably suffered as a result.

Titanfall 2 is the standout shooter and multiplayer game of this generation. Fast, frenetic, and incredibly fun. The maps seamlessly changed dynamic whether you were operating from the perspective of a Titan, or running and gunning with fast and fluid parkour as a pilot – it all felt perfectly balanced.

Titanfall 3 could even incorporate some of the personality and characters from Apex Legends, too. Maybe those characters that people have come to love from Apex Legends could make it into a potential story campaign. Not only that, but they could use that platform to boost the reach of a Titanfall sequel as well.

Ratchet & Clank 2 Remake

Time to bring the big guns back out.

2016’s Ratchet & Clank remake is quietly regarded one of the great PlayStation 4 exclusives. Of course, it doesn’t get spoken about as much as the other heavy hitters but it was an absolute joy to play. Ratchet & Clank were realized in such vibrancy it felt almost Pixar-esque. A bright, colourful world truly brought to life just how we imagined it way back when the original released on Sony’s beloved PS2 all those years ago.

The early stages of the next generation of consoles would be a good time for Sony to bring back one of their platform mascots. I know some would likely opt for Jak and Daxter, but with Sony’s recent acquisition of Insomniac, I’m just hoping they have multiple projects in the works as it would add some much needed diversity into their recent portfolio of games. Mundo Gore

I know Insomniac are more than likely hard at work on a sequel to their wildly popular Spider-Man title, but all I’m asking is that we don’t forget about Ratchet & Clank. It could be a whole new game, or it could be a remake of Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando. With how beautiful 2016’s Ratchet & Clank looked on the PS4, I can only imagine how stunning a sequel would look on the PS5.

Until Dawn 2

Who will survive an Until Dawn sequel and what will be left of them?

If I’m honest, when I first played Until Dawn I wasn’t expecting much but after my first playthrough, I immediately jumped in for a second. This wasn’t because I overly enjoyed the story, or the gameplay, and whilst they’re both solid it was something else that brought me back. It felt like I was directing my own horror movie; the sort I watched with friends in my teens.

It captured a nostalgia of mine whilst allowing me to craft my own events in a slasher flick. I am currently enjoying its spiritual successor in The Dark Pictures Anthology. However, Man of Medan makes me want more – more branching paths and different ways to have the characters meet their end.

Until Dawn is very easy on the eyes too. The game allowed you to see the current emotional state of characters in peril, vividly on their face. That could be taken to a whole new level with the PS5. I don’t know if Supermassive Games can recapture that same magic they did with Until Dawn in a sequel but I would love to see them try.

Bloodborne 2

What can be said about Bloodborne that hasn’t already been said? It’s perfect.

I was late to the party when it came to Bloodborne. The first time I played it, I got my rear end handed to me and it’s safe to say I retreated into the comfort of more familiar games. Then about a year later I returned to the hunt and once it got its hooks in me, it never let go. I put in almost 100 hours into the main game, and the DLC to achieve the platinum trophy. This game has left its mark on me and make no mistake.

Bloodborne is a masterpiece. There are plenty of people out there who will tell you its the best PlayStation exclusive, and I wouldn’t argue. Its definitely up there! The world that From Software have crafted is simply unforgettable, being at once hauntingly beautiful and absolutely harrowing. The world itself is only matched by its equally horrifying but incredible monster designs.

From Software undoubtedly have their hands full with Elden Ring right now. But what about after? I am still a bit salty we didn’t get any Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice DLC but that could all be forgotten about with a return to the nightmarishly Gothic and Lovecraftian world of Bloodborne.

Great Games Await

There are a number of games I considered for my list. From titles such as Wipeout to Silent Hill and many more. Regardless, I have no doubt that Sony will give us more great games in the future no matter what form they take. If you’re as excited as I am about the next generation of games, then you can keep up to date with all the recent news and rumours regarding the PS5 right here. But what about you? What games would you like to see return?
