It Looks Like Additional Customization Is Coming to World of Warcraft 9.1.5

In a post on the forums, Blizzard community manager Linxy addressed the lack of customization in World of Warcraft’s Shadowlands expansion.

Originally, during BlizzConline in February, Blizzard had noted they had no additional plans to add more customization options until after Shadowlands released. However, it seems that after much pushback, that course has been reversed.

In a recent forum post, it looks like 9.1.5 will, in fact, include new character customization options for Nightborne and Lightforged Dranei. These new options will include new hair styles, hair colors, facial hair, skin colors, accessories, horns, tail lengths, tattoos, and various other options.

Their forum post notes additional cosmetics included:

  • Ear Size options for Void Elves

  • New Travel Forms for Druids

  • New Soulshapes for Night Fae

    • New Crittershapes to unlock: Soulshape into an adorable squirrel or other small critters. Note: Due to their tiny appearances, they are only usable in rested areas.

    • Option to Soulshape and Crittershape into randomly collected appearances.

  • New Toys

It looks like the Highmountain Tauren will be next on the new customization list. The additional customization options arrive amidst an ongoing lawsuit involving Activision Blizzard alleging sexual harassment and discrimination, specifically to women of color.

The situation has developed drastically over the past several weeks including conflicting statements by J. Allen Brack and Fran Townsend. For a while, development on World of Warcraft appeared to have completely stopped.

Employees announced a walkout with demands which then took place noting their frustration with Bobby Kotick’s own statement. Soon after, J. Allen Brack “stepped down” as Blizzard President with Jen Oneal and Mike Ybarra replacing him as “co-leaders.”
