Cyberpunk 2077 level designer Miles Tost has spoken at length about the game’s main setting of Night City during an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine, stating that despite its disparate districts, it still ‘feels like one connected city.’
CDPR Talks Cyberpunk 2077 Night City
Tost first compared the game’s setting to that of the original table top RPG, saying it “looks much more organic than the chess pattern layout that the original had,” before explaining the process of designing the location is “mostly driven by the gameplay that we want to do.”
He also revealed his personal favourite area, the Japantown, which he describes, “just purely from street level, it must have our highest height difference.”
I’m really happy and also amazed that we actually managed to give each district its own flavour […]everyone in the company will have a different one. While not feeling weird and out of place, it feels like one connected city.
