RESIDENT EVIL: WELCOME TO RACCOON CITY

Sony and Screen Gems’ adaptation of the first two games of the iconic video game franchise Resident Evil, comes to the big screen once again this November.

The latest trailer was released today, and just like in the previous films, you can expect a lot of fan service in Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City because this trailer is full of Easter eggs. Before we unpack those, watch the trailer below and sit back for the ride.

THE STORY

Like in the game, the protagonists are the Redfield siblings. Resident Evil: Racoon City follows Claire Renfield (Kaya Scodelario), and her brother Chris (Robbie Amell), as they try to bring Umbrella down. As Raccoon City citizens slowly start to get sick, like craving flesh and eating your brains type of sick, they are helped by other members of the video game. Among those is Jill Valentine (Hannah John-Kamen), Albert Wesker (Tom Hopper), and Leon S. Kenndey (Avan Jogia).  Who must fight their way to survive the night. As well as, bring down the corporation that did this to the town: Umbrella Pharmaceuticals. Mejores mangas post-apocalípticos

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is written and directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, and Hellbreeder). Roberts is definitely no stranger to horror films. Roberts also wants to give fans a much more faithful adaption than that 2002 franchise. Which, just by the trailer, he’s doing a great job of so far.

EASTER EGG TIME!

Now, on to those Easter eggs we mentioned. Did anyone else catch the Ashford twins? They come out pulling off the wings of a dragonfly, but if you didn’t watch again. It was a quick shot. There is also a really cool callback to the very first game when Claire sees a zombie writing “Itchy. Tasty” in blood on the mirror. Long-time fans will instantly know that this is the diary entry of a scientist’s descent into zombification…as that was his last entry. You can also spot a quick shot of William Birkin (Neal McDonough), beginning to mutate into his first stage. These are just a few of the Easter eggs we caught. Did you see any other?

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City sinks its teeth into theaters on November 24th. Are you excited for the next installment of the Resident Evil series? Comment and let us know! And make sure to return to THS for all your pop culture needs.
